Autumn skincare

I love autumn. Not only does it bring my birthday but it allows me to put on a jumper without receiving strange looks from passers by. Unlike in winter, when I have to wear countless layers of clothing so that I don't freeze to death when I step outside (I live in England...). Autumn is the perfect balance between summer and winter so for my style it is utterly perfect. The only exception to my love of fall is my skin reaction to it: to summarise, my skin is not fond of the sudden change in weather. When late September approaches my skincare routine changes a lot especially as I have combination skin so some areas are more dry than others. At this time of year I usually go for a light moisturizer that prevents dryness around my mouth but doesn't cause my nose and T-zone to become an oily mess.

I have struggled with (cystic) acne since I was about 12 and was at its worse this time last year. I've used countless different creams and treatment but many of them irritated my skin further. I've never used DIY homemade methods as I don't think it's worth the risk. For a while I relied on mentholatum which kept the spots at bay but did not completely get rid of them. Once I'd got through another pot of menthol, whilst being completely unsatisfied, I decided to try out some new products. I purchased the Clinque anti-blemish solutions  cleansing foam and it works wonders. I'd tried several of Clinque's products in the past and other brands of the same price range, such as Dermalogica, but they didn't work for me. I'm proud to say at this current moment I haven't had any acne for the month I've been using the cleansing foam. This is a massive achievement for me as acne was my biggest enemy for a long time. I still have scars from products that didn't sit well with my skin but I feel so much more confident thanks to my new skincare regime.

When I refer to my skincare routine I'm in no way trying to suggest it is long or complicated at all. I cleanse my face twice a day and moisturize with my Simple Hydrating Light Moisturizer as it is light and all natural so I don't feel greasy. That's it for my face however for my body I've been using my Lush yuzu and cocoa shower cream as well as my Miranda soap (also from Lush). To moisturize my body I've been using coconut oil. The coconut oil is use is unbranded and received it from friends in Seychelles where it was produced. To give you and insight into what I smell like, it's somewhere between a Terry's Chocolate Orange and a Bounty chocolate bar!

Going along with the assorted chocolate box theme, I've been loving the zesty Olivia Blake Tangerine and Patchouli bath soak when I want to relax. Also I've been lighting the matching candle, leave me a comment if you would like to see some of the new candles I've got.

I can't wait to get stuck into the Autumn/Winter posts about everything cosy and sweet. If you have any suggestions leave me a comment and follow me on Instagram and Twitter.
